MY-UMAI™ PROGRAM FOR PATIENTS WITH CANCER
If you are currently being challenged by cancer, we want you to know that we are here to help you with your journey, as both a partner and a friend. We also urge you to visit the Life With Cancer® website (www.lifewithcancer.org) to discover their many free education, information and support programs available to both cancer patients and their families.
Who is Eligible for the MY-UMAI™ Program?
The MY-UMAI™ program is open to patients currently diagnosed with cancer or who are a post-treatment cancer patient having undergone their last surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy treatment within the past 12 months.
What Does My Oncologist Need to Know? After an initial assessment at The Umai Health Center, you will be given a form to coordinate the intended treatment plan with your doctor or oncologist. This ensures that there will be no conflicts between treatment protocols.
What is the Schedule for Treatments?
Patients who qualify for the MY-UMAI™ program can receive 1 treatment a week for 5 consecutive weeks. If there are currently no open slots you can request to be placed on a waiting list for the next available slot in a future Special Session.
What is the Cost for the MY-UMAI™ Program?
Patients eligible for the MY-UMAI™ program receive 5 treatment sessions and the cost is free-of-charge (if no insurance coverage is available).
How will Treatments be of Benefit?
Since 1997, the National Institutes of Health have been studying acupuncture and the National Cancer Institute reports the benefit of acupuncture in a number of areas important to the patient being treated for cancer:
